I found Matylda on Dec 12, 1998. Her first days were difficult, she was very small, somebody abandoned her in an empty garden, in a nailed wooden box. It was a very hard winter and it took three weeks to bring Matylda back to health. But look at her right after her first bath:
Matylda, also called 'Tiger' has turned into a beautiful lady. Many stray kittens and puppies have been to our home during her life, and they always could count on her. Matylda took care of them like a real mother.
In the mean time, a black cat called Bolek came to live with us. He was supposed to stay just for a while, but I still see him walking around the house - he has officially become my Mom's Cat.
Matylda is an exceptionally sociable girl, with an attitude hard to describe.
When I come back home she welcomes me with loud purring and becomes my shadow straight away. When I sit down, she's immediately on my lap.
She has a very special bond with Nuka - the girls sleep together, care for each other, even groom each other. well, Nuka likes to be groomed, but Matylda is not very happy to be drooled by the dog.
They both have their rules and usually respect them. Matylda has her own private blanket, Nuka cleans the cat bowl daily.
Sometimes I feel I'm helpless with them.
Today, Matylda is a 10 year old Grandma. She usually holds her tail high up to the sky. In the evening, when we all start getting ready to sleep, she stretches on her back with belly up and falls asleep. They say cat's don't sleep this way, well it seems to be Matylda's favorite position.
On cold winter nights, she likes her electric pillow to get warm.
It's difficult to tell about cats attitude and manners.
But one thing is sure - Matylda is an absolutely exceptional cat, being more dog-like than my dog and more cat-like than most cats in the world.
Now that Cynamon has appeared at home, Matylda needs some improvement and special conditions, because her old bones are not agile enough to escape from the mischievous puppy. The Tiger's tail has become a target to chase. Luckily, they are slowly getting used to eachother and I'm delighted to lay down after a hard day with my cat on my lap and my dogs on both sides :)
